Our group went on many adventures this summer to share our current research.
In July, Charlotte went to ECCB/ISMB in Liverpool, UK to talk about how Ontology pre-training improves machine learning predictions of aqueous solubility and other metabolite properties.

Then in August, Janna, Fabio, and Yating attended MedInfo in Taipei, Taiwan to talk about their applications of LLMs in Healthcare.

Finally, in September, Charlotte talked about Improved Molecular Prediction with Ontology-derived Knowledge Injection at [BC]2 in Basel, Switzerland.

In between, Janna taught language models for public health at the Lugano summer school in public health.
Janna and Charlotte led a hackathon on Protein Language Models at the VIB&SIB Machine Learning & AI Summer School in Geetbets, Belgium. Students fine-tuned protein language models for their own research questions: predicting TCR specificity, CAZy families, protein functional features, and protein-protein interactions.
